NEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW….

Let’s start with podcasts that will be following the upcoming Formula 1 season, which kicks off this weekend.

Firstly, there’s The Fast and The Curious. BBC Radio 5 Live’s Tailenders gained a loyal fanbase for the way it managed to reflect and celebrate the world of cricket. Now Radio 1 broadcaster Greg James has thrown himself into the world of Formula One, where he’s joined by broadcast journalist Christian Hewgill and sports presenter Betty Glover to review the season and interview some of the sports’ biggest stars. Expect a similar charm and breeziness to the whole series.

By the way, if you want to hear more of Greg James, he was on How to Fail with Elizabeth Day this week too.

The Race F1 Podcast, presented by Edd Straw and Scott Mitchell-Malm, has a comprehensive and insightful preview of the upcoming season, without much distraction. Sky Sports, who of course own much of the broadcast rights for Formula One series, have their own podcast, simply called Sky Sports F1 Podcast. And there’s Beyond The Grid, by Formula 1 themselves, providing behind-the-scenes tidbits that unofficial podcasts would dream of having access to.

NOTABLE NAMES ON PODCASTS THIS WEEK

If you have listened to a great guest on a podcast, let us know by filling in this form and it might get featured in an upcoming newsletter.

Here are our podcast picks for the week ahead

If you want your podcast featured, or you have an excellent recommendation, all you need to do is fill in this simple form. It was during the Diving when the cameras panned to Tom Daley on the poolside unexpectedly knitting.

“You may think this sounds bonkers, but I believe knitting made me an Olympic champion,” says Daley at the start of his new podcast. Such a pursuit helped him relax his mind and helped him focus when it really mattered. Off the back of a new knitting book, this new podcast features Daley speaking with others who have made a hobby into a cornerstone of their career, starting with the singer Shania Twain.

The Weigh Up: Eating Disorder Diaries – A new podcast that tries to help those who are experiencing an eating disorder, are in recovery, and for those who want to help others. There are several informative and useful episodes so far, weaving candid testimony with insights from healthcare professionals. There’s also an understanding that there’s no one size fits all method

“When I was 14, I was diagnosed with anorexia and I’ll be honest, it came as a shock to me,” said Molly Smith, the podcast’s host. “How did I not see this coming? How did something which seemed so in control begin to control me?”

The podcast was the winner of the Rachael Bland New Podcast Award, which was launched in memory of the broadcaster from You, Me and the Big C. Previous winners have included Hooked: The Unexpected Addicts, which tried to break the stigma and stereotypes surrounding addiction.
